The admission process begins with an enrollment application. Please bring photo identification, your high school diploma or your general equivalency diploma. Bring any academic transcripts you may have, which will be evaluated for transfer credits. If you have previously earned certifications other than your high school diploma, bring these with you. Begin to research if immunization records and/or admission exams are applicable in your program of interest.

PURPOSE

Compass Career College, founded in 1997, is an open-admission; state approved proprietary school of vocational learning.  The mission of Compass Career College is to meet the needs of Southeast Louisiana citizens by providing vocational education/career training for the Florida Parishes.  Compass Career College offers a positive environment for student growth, development, and provides an atmosphere that encourages moral and ethical values. Compass Career College is dedicated to providing the highest quality career training to all enrolled students, and to preparing each student for entry-level positions in the work force. 

Notes

The prospective Compass Career College student must provide or meet the following requirements:

  1. High school diploma or equivalent (GED)
  2. Valid photo I.D. (i.e.: driver's license, passport, military ID, state issued ID, etc.)
  3. Social security card (we will make a photocopy of the original)
  4. Students must attend Orientation prior to the first day of class.

Procedure

  1. Submit an enrollment application for admission.
  2. Provide original valid photo I.D. (i.e., driver’s license, passport, military ID, state issued ID, etc.)

Please Note: Digital Photo I.D.s are not accepted.

  1. Provide original social security card.
  2. Provide an official valid high school diploma/transcript or high school equivalency.
  3. Provide an official academic transcript to be evaluated for credit if applicable.

Please Note: All academic transcripts required for VA students regardless of evaluation for credit.

  1. Provide any current certifications earned.  CPR certification for Health Care Providers must be approved by the American Heart Association; this certification is offered at Compass Career College.
  2. Make financial arrangements – Apply for funding from the various sources available through Compass Career College is student qualifies, sign an internal payment contract if paying out of pocket.
  3. If student qualifies for Title IV funding, then Entrance Counseling and Master Promissory Note must be completed.
  4. Provide immunization records based on the requirement of the program.
  5. Cosmetology – Students applying for the Cosmetology program must also submit 2 passport photos and a $10 money order to submit to the Louisiana State Board of Cosmetology.
  6. Practical Nurse - Take the ACCUPLACER Next Generation test if the student is applying for entry into the Practical Nurse program. A testing fee of $5 per section will be incurred. Any prospective student can retest as needed at $5 per section.
  7. Practical Nurse – Students applying for the Practical Nurse program must follow additional steps for admission evaluation. Please see the program handbook for more information.
  8. Medical Assistant and Nurse Aide Training -Submit the Louisiana Department of Health and Hospitals required criminal background screening.
  9. Medical Assistant, Medical Billing and Coding, and Nurse Aide Training -Submit TB skin test.
  10. Medical Assistant and Medical Billing and Coding - Submit proof of 2 MMR, and a tetanus within 10 years or sign a waiver prior to admission.
  11. Attend orientation.
