Accuplacer Test

Student Working At Laptop studying for AccuplacerOur Practical Nursing Program requires a TABE Level A, ACT, Accuplacer, or Accuplacer Next Generation test to ensure students are ready to begin the program. We are pleased to offer the Accuplacer - Next Generation test, which can be scheduled by appointment.

The Accuplacer is a series of tests that helps Compass assess readiness to succeed in our LPN Program. It helps determine if you need additional support before beginning, or if you are ready to start classes. Either way, the Accuplacer helps to set students up for success by making sure they have the resources and knowledge needed to succeed in the program.

Before taking the test, check out these tips and resources for each area we test in!

Math:

There are three types of math Accuplacer tests. We require a 243 out of 300 on the Quantitative Reasoning, Algebra, and Statistics (QAS) test. QAS assesses knowledge and skills of rational numbers, ratio and proportional relationships, exponents, algebraic expressions, linear equations, linear applications and graphs, probability sets, descriptive statistics, and geometry concepts. Collegeboard has QAS sample questions available, so you can prepare for the test and do your best.

Reading:

The Reading Accuplacer tests your ability to determine the meaning of words and phrases in short and extended contexts and derive meaning from a range of texts. Our program requires a 250 out of 300 in Reading. Passages cover a variety of content areas, writing modes, and complexities. Both single and paired passages are included. Before taking the test, make sure to practice with the free practice questions!

Writing:

The Writing Accuplacer test analyzes your ability to revise and edit multi-paragraph text. Students must choose the best revision or editing decision in a series of passages that vary in complexity and difficulty. The test covers a range of content areas including literary nonfiction, careers, history, social studies, humanities, and science. Our program requires a 241 out of 300 in Reading. You can prepare for the writing test by practicing writing questions!
